Available sizes

Second-hand refrigerated containers are available in the same size range as Climatight’s new units, subject to current stock:

• 10ft: Ideal for smaller operations, with a compact footprint and generous internal storage.
• 20ft: A commonly available second-hand reefer container size, suited to most commercial cold storage requirements.
• 40ft: For operations that need high-capacity cold storage solutions without the cost of permanent infrastructure.

Inspection and quality checks

We inspect our used refrigerated shipping containers before delivery by conducting a pre trip inspection to ensure they meet structural and usability standards. This includes checking for:

• Clean and food-safe interior
• No structural damage
• Proper door sealing
• Consistent temperature and humidity control
• Alarm and internal door release functionality

Condition does vary between units. Some will show cosmetic wear on the exterior, which is normal for containers that have been used as storage. If the condition of a specific unit matters to your application, let us know and we’ll give you an honest assessment before you commit.

We have units to suit all budgets keeping a wide range of stock from newer to older used stock.

Delivery and placement

We deliver across Australia and can ship second-hand refrigerated sea containers globally through our partner network.

Next-day delivery may be possible in Western Australian and South Australian metro areas, depending on stock location, condition, and logistics.

We have three delivery options depending on your site:

• Tilt tray: Requires 15m of clear space in front of the placement area.
• Side loader: Suitable for 20ft and 40ft containers up to 30,000kg. Requires 6x16m space with at least 4.5m of clearance.
• Hiab crane: Only available for 20ft containers and requires a 5x10m clear space.

Please ensure there is clear and safe access for our delivery trucks. Preparing a compact, level surface also helps to prevent delivery delays. We will confirm access requirements before delivering.

Availability and turnover

If you need a specific type or size, it is best to confirm availability early. Although we usually have second-hand refrigerated containers in stock, the range and quantity can change at short notice.

Customisation

When you purchase a second-hand reefer container from Climatight Containers, we can modify the unit to suit your needs. This includes custom doors, racking, access ramps, lighting, ventilation, and paint.
